LCD TV Screens
as Large as
Plasma Screens?

Can you get LCD TV screens as large as Plasma TV?

It all boils down to just two main points: the technology and the price. Plasma TVs were actually designed to go on to replace existing large screen televisions. So, Plasma production and marketing directly flows from that goal.

However, in their bigger screen sizes, LCD TVs are somewhat more expensive to produce than Plasma TVs. As a result, they make for significantly higher prices that you and I end up paying. Although you are beginning to see affordable 32-inch LCD televisions in the shops, the prices of the larger LCD TVs (37-inches and bigger) are still much more expensive than similar sized Plasma TVs.

With flat panel TVs, Plasma TVs currently easily dominate the 42-inch and bigger sizes. But LCD is often available in the 32-inch and smaller sizes. However, LCD has in recent times been becoming more and more available in the 32-to-37-inch size range and is beginning to overtake Plasma TVs for those sizes.

As the technology develops with more efficient production, then supply and will demand continue to grow for LCD TVs. You will see more and more LCD TVs available as larger screen TVs (42-inches and beyond). More affordable prices will be offered eventually for larger sized LCD televisions.
