Can you use an LCD TV as a PC monitor?
LCD TV as a monitor?
LCD TV certainly had its beginnings in the development and growth of LCD computer monitors. LCDs
share a great many characteristics with them. Most LCD televisions have VGA connections that allow
them be properly used as computer monitor.
But, if your main purpose is to use an LCD display as PC monitor, the extra cost of the functions and
features of an LCD TV, such as built-in TV tuner, analogue AV inputs, and other things required for
television-type performance, may just be things that you may not really need.
Plus, if you are into games or have your PC integrated into your home cinema system, and you also
want the largest possible monitor to play on (and show off with), a large LCD TV can indeed make a most
impressive computer monitor.
If you are planning to use your LCD TV as both a television and a computer monitor, make sure the set
your are considering does actually have VGA or other connection options designed for PC use.
