Will an LCD TV work with an old VCR?
The simple answer is: Yes.
An LCD TV will work with any existing video equipment with standard AV, S-Video, or component video
outputs. Also, in addition to that, most LCD TVs have DVI or HDMI connections for use with high
definition sources.
Further, because of their thin flat panel design, many LCD TVs have side-mounted
connections, which makes the attaching your other components and cable or satellite TV box much, much
easier.
I should say that the only note of caution about using an LCD TV with a VCR is that (since VHS is of such
low resolution and has poor colour consistency) it may well not look as good on a larger LCD screen TV as
it does on a smaller 26-inch TV.
Added to that, if the VHS source is particularly poor (such recordings made
in the extended play mode or in very poor lighting conditons), the LCD TV make show more motion lag
artifacts than it would with higher quality video input sources.
